Our Mission Statement

This website was created for a school project in a health communications class taught by Dr.Koenig at San Francisco State University. This blog was created May 2nd, 2022. The students Maria Torres, Axel Urrutia, Karina Espinoza, and Christian Colmenares gathered research for months from all types of sources to create the content on this website. The sections of this website are as follows:

  • Learning About Insomnia and Sleeping Disorders: This is the home page and gives a few facts about sleeping disorders and insomnia.

  • Understanding Insomnia: This section gives lots of useful background information on what Insomnia and sleeping disorders are and some solutions on how to take care of them. There is also information on signs you might have a sleeping disorder.

  • Living With Insomnia: This page focuses on real experiences people have gone through living with a sleeping disorder and insomnia specifically.

  • Media: This section explains how sleeping disorders and insomnia is portrayed in the media. It goes in depth of what is correct and incorrect on the internet when portraying sleeping disorders.

  • Science Behind Sleep: This page includes a detailed scientific study on sleep and sleeping disorders. You will learn more in depth on how it affects a person.

Our mission is to educate our readers on sleeping disorders. We focus a lot of our research on the sleeping disorder insomnia specifically because it is a common sleeping disorder that a lot of people struggle with and it’s not talked about enough in our everyday lives. This is an outlet for people to have more information on insomnia and sleeping disorders to know how it affects their health and others around them struggling with this. It is important to always reach out to your health care provider if you think you are suffering from a sleeping disorder and ask questions when you don’t understand something.
